What is a Smile Makeover?

Home | Dental Implants | Page 2

A smile is often the first thing that someone notices about another person. Smiles can create invitations, make apologies, and loosen tension. In the past year of mouth coverings, we have especially learned the difference that a smile can make. Some individuals do not share their smiles due to a lack of confidence. One solution to this problem would be a smile makeover. Getting a smile makeover is the way that many celebrities and others achieve seemingly perfect teeth.

Smile Makeover Brigham City UT

Overview of Smile Makeovers

So what is a smile makeover? Not to be confused with full mouth restoration, a smile makeover is a group of cosmetic procedures that cause teeth to look brighter, stronger and overall more visually appealing. Using several different techniques, a dentist can straighten, whiten, and fix teeth issues to an individual’s liking. Each smile makeover is completely unique to each individual and their specific needs and wants. Most smile makeovers include porcelain veneers, which are attached to the front of the teeth. Other procedures that can be a part of a full smile makeover include dental implants, whitening, crowns, and composite bonding.

What Does a Smile Makeover Help With?

From discoloration to dental fractures, smile makeovers include many different procedures that can help improve your cosmetic tooth issues and help you regain your confidence.

Smile Makeovers Can Fix Discoloration

Tooth discoloration is an issue that many people manage. Some people have great tooth care practices and still have yellow or gray teeth. Discoloration happens for a variety of reasons including eating dark pigmented foods, drinking wine, using tobacco products, mouth injuries and even aging. With whitening, veneers, and other processes, dentists can help solve discoloration problems.

Smile Makeovers Can Fix Chips and Cracks

Chips and cracks are also fairly common dental concerns. Chips can be caused by biting down on something too hard, sports injuries and excessive wear and tear. Cracked teeth can come from chewing on hard foods, unchecked cavities, and grinding your teeth. Cracks and chips can both be cosmetically fixed with smile makeovers using crowns and veneers. More severe cracks may require more complex attention that is not simply cosmetic.

Smile Makeovers Can Replace Missing Teeth

When an individual loses a tooth as an adult, it can be quite disconcerting. But never fear, smile makeovers are here! Whether you got a tooth knocked out or gum disease, there are options available to you to help your beautiful smile return. The processes that a dentist would use for this smile makeover would mostly likely include dental implants, veneers and any other procedures that a client desires. It is important to take care of replacing missing teeth as quickly as possible because it helps prevent further decay and disease.

How Much Does a Smile Makeover Cost?

Depending on which procedures you decide to get as a part of your smile makeover, the costs can vary. Full smile makeover costs can be very different depending on how many teeth you decide to have worked on, what procedures you desire, and your location. With any medical procedure, it is important to do your research ahead of time and make sure that you pay for quality services and watch out for fraudulent companies that could give you a shoddy smile makeover at a lower economic cost. At Jenson Dental, we have resources available to help you find out how much your individualized smile makeover would cost. Set up a consultation or contact us today.

Is a Smile Makeover Worth It?

The long answer to the question of whether a smile makeover is worth it is yes or no based on your personal circumstances. Some of the questions to ask yourself include: what is my budget? What are the risks if I leave my tooth issue alone? Am I happy with my smile? Smile makeovers are truly a great way to get a beautiful, healthy smile and boost your confidence. Once you have thought about these questions and done some research about your options, give us a call at Jenson Dentistry. We look forward to helping you reach your dental goals!

How is 3-D Printing Used in Dentistry?

The invention of 3-D printing has served to make a variety of innovations in dental technology. There are many kinds of tools that can be created more quickly and efficiently through the use of 3-D printing. Not only can this make the creation of tools faster, but it can also reduce the costs. There are studies dedicated to advancing the use of 3-D printing in dentistry, but there are already plenty of uses for 3-D printing.

Convenient and Fast

The ability to print dental tools directly in the office helps to make the process much faster. Rather than getting an imprint taken and waiting while the imprint is sent to the lab, made, and sent back to the dentist’s office, the tool can be made directly in the office. Additionally, the use of 3-D printing requires a 3-D scan, which eliminates the need for gross, gummy imprints.

3-D printing allows the use of CEREC crowns, which can be implemented the same day. These crowns are created directly in the office, which will allow patients to receive a permanent crown immediately, rather than wait for a permanent crown to be made. This eliminates the need for uncomfortable temporary crowns that can become dislodged easily.

Make a Variety of Dental Products

3-D printing can help create a variety of products that make dental work more efficient. These products include:

  • Night guards
  • Clear orthodontic retainers
  • Same day crowns
  • Dental implants

Everyone’s mouth is formed differently, which creates the need for personalized dental implants. This can result in long waits for a lab to create these specialized tools, which can create discomfort during the wait time. This can also require several dental visits, while 3-D printing can cause procedures to be done in a single visit.

Here at Jenson Dental in Brigham City, we are happy to be able to offer 3-D printing solutions for our patients. These can allow you to get the dental work you need more quickly and effectively. Printing directly from our office allows us to ensure that your implant will be a perfect fit for you. What to Expect With Dental Implants

If you have missing teeth, dental implants are great solutions! We recommend dental implants as they are a permanent solution for missing teeth. Dental implants look and function like your traditional teeth, making it easier to maintain the tooth and ensuring you will have a smile you love to share.

What to Expect

Your initial visit will involve x-rays and the planning process for dental implants. We will work closely with you to ensure the dental implant process is fully understood prior to scheduling your appointment. Certain patients may need to undergo bone grafting prior to dental implants to ensure the bone is strong enough to hold the implant.

The dental implant must be surgically placed in the jawbone if it is going to last. The titanium screw will bond with the jawbone, acting as the anchor for the new prosthetic tooth to be attached. The titanium can take six months or longer to effectively bond with the jawbone. We do recommend having patients come back for a follow up examination with Dr. Jenson in Brigham City to make sure everything looks great and it’s bonding properly.

Following the initial surgery, patients will have time for the area to heal prior to an abutment placed on the implant. The abutment will be placed on top of the gums and is attached to the implant, and is responsible for holding the artificial tooth in place.

Caring for Dental Implants

A dental implant will need regular brushing and flossing to keep the area healthy. The jawbone can be vulnerable to decay if you do end up with serious gum disease that ends up requiring advanced periodontal treatment. Daily brushing and flossing normally prevent this issue from occurring. We do recommend mouthwash to aid in cleansing the mouth from bacteria that does increase the risk of dental decay.
