Dentures vs. Dental Implants

Dentures vs. Dental Implants

If you are missing a tooth or multiple teeth, you have the option of dental implants or dentures. Each of these treatments has its own pros and cons. Depending on your unique situation, our dentist will make the proper recommendation. However, the decision is ultimately yours. Consider the following to make an informed decision to benefit your oral health.

Dentures

A lot of patients can wear upper dentures without problems, but they can have issues when their lower teeth are extracted. Implant-supported dentures make it easier for patients to eat and speak without needing to remove their lower teeth all the time for cleaning. There are several benefits to using implant retention dentures including:

  • Improved confidence
  • Bone and gum preservation
  • Stability during eating and talking

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a permanent solution for a missing tooth. If you want to replace a missing tooth without damaging any teeth surrounding them, dental implants are by far the best method.

Conventional Implants Vs Mini Implants

Many of our patients come to our office concerned about whether they should get conventional implants or mini implants. At Jenson Dentistry, we provide both implant options because they both offer numerous benefits.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a permanent solution for a missing tooth. If you want to replace a missing tooth without damaging any teeth surrounding them, dental implants are by far the best method. Dental implants involve a surgical procedure to place a titanium screw into the jawbone. The titanium screw will then be used to support a permanent tooth. Dental implants look natural and are the perfect solution for people that want to restore their bite.

What are Conventional Implants?

Standard dental implants have an external screw that is surgically inserted into the jaw bone. Once the screw bonds with the jaw bone, we will attach the dental crown to the implant

What are Mini Implants?

MDIs are constructed out of titanium and have calcium phosphate sprayed over it along the length of the screw portion. The MDI is designed to provide long-lasting results that promotes quick healing. The head portion of the implant looks like a small ball that fits firmly into the retaining mechanism. The MDI sits comfortably on the gum tissue and can withstand a great deal of force and pressure.
