Do you need teeth extracted? Are you currently missing a tooth? A number of dental patients deal with tooth loss, which can impact their smile, alter their speech, and can cause concerns with chewing. Jenson Dental provides dental implant services for our patients. We enjoy replacing teeth and we find dental implants are one of the best treatments for patients with missing teeth.
What Is A Dental Implant?
Dental implants are a permanent solution for a missing tooth. If you want to replace a missing tooth without damaging any teeth surrounding them, dental implants are by far the best method. Implants involve a surgical procedure to place a titanium screw into the jawbone. The titanium screw will then be used to support a permanent tooth. Dental implants look natural and are the perfect solution for people that want to restore their bite.
How Long Do Dental Implants Take?
Dental implants can take several months to complete. If your jawbone is not strong enough for the implant, patients will need to receive bone grafts. A bone graft surgery will add replacement bone to the jawbone, allowing it to be strong enough to support an implant. The initial appointment will allow Dr. Jenson to talk to you about the procedure and examine X-rays with you to discuss the bone structure and the implant.
If adequate bone does exist, patients are eligible for dental implants. We will focus on making sure the area is numb so you do not feel pain in the region for several hours. If everything goes smoothly, we may be able to place a false tooth on the implant during the same visit.
A dental implant needs to heal for several months to ensure the titanium screw has bonded to the jawbone. The entire process normally takes about 3 to 6 months based on the amount of work needed.
Do Dental Implants Hurt?
Dental implants should not hurt once the area has healed. If you ever feel pain, contact our dental office in Brigham City. Tenderness is common, but excessive pain accompanied by swelling needs to be seen by Dr. Jenson. After the dental implant heals, it will function like any other healthy tooth in your mouth.
