4 Common Dental Emergencies
Dental emergencies occur when you least expect them. From a missing filling to a traumatic injury, dental emergencies aren’t something to take lightly. That’s why Jenson Dental offers dental emergency care for our patients. Here are 4 common dental emergencies and how Jenson Dental treats them.
Dental Emergencies
Cracked Tooth
As one of the most common dental emergencies, cracked or fractured teeth need to be treated as soon as possible in order to prevent infection and pain. In the meantime, we recommend placing a cold compress on the face to keep the swelling down.
Trauma
Our dental team sees a variety of traumatic injuries in our patients. Acute bleeding is typically involved with trauma due to dislodged teeth. When treating dental trauma, timeliness is key when it comes to saving the tooth. Our goals at Jenson Dental are to quickly treat your pain, stop the bleeding, and save the affected tooth.
Lost Dental Fillings
Losing a dental filling is a common occurrence. Although it’s not necessarily a huge dental emergency, the affected tooth may become painful and inflamed due to exposed tooth tissue. If you lose a filling, our dentist will remove the decay that developed between the tooth and old filling. Then, we’ll place a new filling.
Complications after Dental Treatment
After a dental procedure, it’s normal for patients to experience mild pain, swelling, bleeding. However, if you notice throbbing pain that doesn’t subside with pain medication, increased swelling, oozing discharge and blood, then you may have a serious infection. If you are experiencing any of these warning signs, call our office immediately.
